has changed hands. Prof. R. F a
Ulmer is now manager and
VV. A. Green remains editor. c
The Cheraw Chronicle an- 1
nounced in big headlines lad t
week that Woodrovv Wilson has r
accepted an invitation to speak \
at Cheraw's annual big day some i
time in July, and promises full 1
particulars later. a
Little Nell, the six months old 1
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. 1
Pigg, Jr., died last Wednesday 1
and was buried at Pageland Bap- 1
tist church Thursday. This 5
little one had been sick for several
weeks and death came as a t
relief to the little sufferer. 1
The weather is still dry and '
much cotton is still under the 1
ground. Probably one-fourth or y
one fifth of the sandy land in ,
this section has been planted '
again because of the havoc *
wrought by the wind last week. v
Rain is anxiously looked and ^
hoped for.
Mr. Jady Huntley, son of Mr. s
David Huntley, and Miss Alice (
Burch, daughter of Mr. Charlie
Burch, both of Mt. Croghan,
were married last night in Eliza- ^
beth church by Rev. B. S. Funderburg.
This is a very popular
young couple, and a host of j
friends join in congratulations. ^
The first game of ball of this <,
season will be played on the s
diamond here Friday afternoon. 7
Ruby and Pageland will each x
try for the first game, which is ^
expected to be a good one. See \
the line-up in another place, and 1
then be on hand if you enjoy a [
good game of ball. I

southern part of town. He at- 1
tempted to slide to third base c
which was held by Ward Cato. t
Their legs became entangled 1
and both fell, and in the fall the t
leg was broken as above stated. 1
Bynum is getting along nicely. 1
Mr. T. B. Smith thinks that a '
choir of Pageland's singers can
sing with any choir in
Chesterfield or Union 1
counties. He desires to 1
arrange a few contests to be held *
in July or August, and any per- ^
son who thinks he can sing or
who thinks he can collect a
enough singers to beat those f<
winy aiug in nit; several ciiurlices l'
here may see or write Mr. Smith v
and begin practice, for practice F
will be needed. h
Mr. T. Ed Wright was burned J
about the hands in a rather pe- 1
culiar way one day last week. 1
He is a painter by trade, and he (.
cleaned his gloves with gasoline ,j
before breakfast and just after
breakfnst he drew them on and U
started to work. He struck a ^
match to light his pipe and
when he did the fire flashed jj
over his hands ard burned and ^
blistered both hands so that he is
still unable to work.

which number included Mr. (|
Mode Home and Mr. Willis
Jenkins who went from Page- (,

come home as early as a few a,
who soon tired of the crowds NN
and the relatives of these men b
were becoming alarmed sure p
enough. Monday's train hrouglit '
the tardy ones in and there "
was no evidences of struggles s(
in the water. There, of course, d:
had been no grounds for such Ix
reports for no boat had sunk and pi
nobody was drowned. vi
