Col. Sam Dickerson, the some
what famous black lawyor of
Charleston, was in town a few days
ago--for what purpose we have not

Thme present board of county com

not only to pay all claims againtt

for the managemnent of thme board.
~la Wallace left town shortly

Religious servioes wvill b)0 held in

We were mistaken in stating that
Messrs. Thompson and Richardson
were t1.0 only white men recently
nominatedi by the Radical executivc
committee: we had overlooked the
name of Mr. George Hinnant.
The~ negroes at Chester were told
that the cause of Chiamnberleain's non

ATTEMPT AT INOENDIABIsbi.-An at.

night to firo the residence of Dr.
W. E. Aiken in this place. A per

the collar,in which was stored -a
quantity of hay and straw. The
conclusion is that ho intended to
fire the building.
DEcORATIONs.-'The ladies of the
Stato are requested to send decora

Twenty-five additional companies
of United Statos troops have been
ordered to South Carolina within
the past wok, Most of which have
already arrived. There are now be
tween thirty and forty companies in
the Stato. Hurrah for Hampton!
Tho negroos wero told that the
cause of Chambei-lain's non-attend
anice at their big meeting last Satur
day was his detention in Columbia
to provide camping-grounds
for numbers of colored troops that
had arrived there. And the deluded
creatures seemed actually to believo
the story!
AN EPISTLE.-The Chester .Re
porter contains the following, being
ilan exact copy, "spelling, punctua

by a colored man from "a prominent
loader of the party" in Winnsboro:

Dunn was very abusive of the
whites in his speech to the negroes
on Saturday. Dunn is the creature
who, two years ago, said that if
Attorney-General Melton would not
retract a certain remark, he would
kill him at sight. Buthe afterwards,
"for sufficient reasons," publicly
retracted. Bullies are always loud
mouthed wvhen away from danger.

I Iv-roxIAro.-.N(ed Davis, a noto

that lhe was keeping some b~uck-sllot

If this is not a clear case of attempt

coloredl Democratic Club was or

Bolin Li. Gregory, the colored m~an
whose letter was read at the Hamp

Thirteen members were enrolled,
and large ad litions may be confi..

number of nowv members may bc
looked for. The following oliceors
were elected: B. L. Gregory, presi
doent; James Trapp, first vice-presi

president; John Trapp, seretary.
Gregory has written a letteir to the
Columbia Register, in which he
says: "I was a vice-president in ai
Union League in township 14, New
borry county, and was sworn to vote
for honest men. I can't find them
in the Radical ranks, and for that
reason will wvork day and night for
Hampton and Reform."
THE: RADICAL MEETINo.--The Radi.
