C., a distaice-of -62 Miles, costing, when comple ted with a heavy T rail and equipped, $1,00,. O00. ,The- extraordinary adaptedness of the country to the construotion of a rail-way ac counts for this low ost. The Trustee Is emiowered, in case of 60 days0-defkultin payment of principal or inter est,- to take posesion of the entire line of Road, wts, stations, income, franchise, . t sme to 'sell at his discretion to the itestbidder for cash, to pay arrears of prin. l i or inteteat. .Thole amount of bonds authorized to be issuedby vote of the stockholders at a meeting calld for that purpose in April last, and an or -der of the RailRoad, is 8000,000 to raise means to payehe residue of the iron rails and equip ments, only $900,000 of which ara now o2lered for sale.. The Company will owe no other debt when the road is com leted. 'This roa wilt prove an important link in the chainof railroad from ]Boston, New York and P.hlla4elphin, to New Orleans, connecting at.Wilmingtoii with the Raleigh and Wilining ton Railway, now in successful operation, at - lanhester with ti. great South Carolina Railroad, IeAine frota Charleston in the diree. ,.qioq of.M~ontgqmery, Alabama, now in the re ce) of near a mill ion of dollars annually from Its Iness; will avoid the present disagrecable : - fiom .Wilmington to Charleston, :7hortdtW We-travel to Now Orleans one dany's timb, facilitate the mails, and will bring thei 240utt in more immediate and direct coinuni cation with the North. The position of -this Road, its connection. North and -South, its easy grades, (none over thirty. feet to the mile,) freedont froin curves, - and cheap construction, is such as to put it be. * yond the competition of any other line of rtmd, for the immense inland travel between the North and New Orleans. The greater part of this Road traverses the most populous and fertile portions of South Car. olina, producing cotton, corn, &c., in great abundance. Its flocal businiess alone will sup port it handsomely. The census of 1850 shows that the District of country which will be tributary to this Road, and dependent on it for transportation to the mnarket, produced in 1849 seventy thousand bales of cotton, of an average weight each of 45Q l -s. The C pa n has one million of available stock subscr , most of which has boen paid In and applied to construction, to which can be ad d 'at any timoat the option of the Comnpa taM ,000, subscribed by the State of North Carolina, on certain conditions. Itis estimated that the net annual profits will reach 12 per cent per annum. About 'one half of the entire line has been graded and bridged, the cross-ties being in the eotiple of delivery, and will be ready for the The entuc Wi- ba under contract for grading and .bridging and in a forward state towards .c pletion. . i housand two hundred ton. iron rails, T jstUerd; have been purchased and are in course eif delivesy.
