We have in our possession a letter
written to the Auditor of this county
in 1800, by cue of the truly Moil" of
Branchvillc. It is an application for j
a Township Assessors hip, i.s from a
white man, und details minutely
(although in very queer orthography j
and queerer English) the political
influence of the applicant with "forty
acres und a mule." By and by tins
literary curiosity will Und a place in
these columns;
A County Coimu issioner was seen
reading the Revised Statutes on
Monday last. A friend of ours j
observing that ho was deeply en

our luw-mukcrs that so interested
him. "None, particular," said the
C, C; "I was only thinking what
plague-gone fools our ligi slaters is:
here, da've passed a 'hole crowd of

wandered into the index and took it
for granted that each line was an act.

nor does my pabulum come that way.
The Town is in labor. A real

never worshipped the golden calf of
radicalism ; one who would scorn to
receive a dollar through th.it chan

tion of the quintessence of hate to
wards republican office holders ; one
who detested Chamberlain and all
his appointees ; in a word, one who
regards a clerk for a radical as float

This unrivaled preparation has per
formed some of the most astonishing
cures that arc recorded in the annals 0/
history. Patients suffering for years from
the various diseases of the Lungs, after
trying different remedies, spending .thou
sands of dollars in traveling and doctor
ing, have, by the use of a few bottles,
entirely recovered their health.
