'1 he action of the Grand Scribe in sending a new charter to Lancaster Division No. 28, to replace their charter destroyed by fire, was con-' firmed. Reports were received from Repre sentatives of the various Divisions present, which showed a gratifying state of the ord-.r in their respective jurisdictions. The G. D. closed in due form to meet at 1> a. in., Thursday 27th of April 187 d. Thursday morning April 27th 1870. The ti. D. met pursuant to adjourn ment; officers as before?and was opened iu due form. The minutes of the day previous were read and approved. The selection of a place for the July meeting was deferred until afternoon Session. Representative Kistler from com mittee on G. \V. P's. report, made a report, which was received ami adopted. (J. sending greetings. Representative Cumniings was instructed to form and scud a suitable reply, which was djucin the following manner: "Kind greetings received and returned, with the best wishes for your prosperity." Resolved. That in the death of Col. F. F. No. 24 for courtisics, and to the Railroad Companies that ex tended favors, was offered by Rep. Patrick and adopted, and ordered published in Orongcburg papers. A recess of 10 minutes was had. On resti mining business the committee to whom was referred the report of the Gram! Scribe, made the report, which was received and adopted. The. Committee on Temperance Papers to whom sundry le'.t.ers were referred icported that they deemed the time inexpedient for theG. D. to endorse any newspapers and asked to" be discharged from further consideration of the same?adopted. 'Ihe G. S. was directed to call iu the Charters of all delinquent Divi sion. Tut: Hawaiian Tukaty.?The rice planters and dealers of the South have sent a petition to the United Stales Senate praying for the rejec tion of the Hawaiian Treaty, by which rice from the Sandwich Islands would be admitted free of duty. The petition sets forth that 1,200 planters [ arc engaged in rice culture at the South. The annual crop is valued at 83,000,000, developing general busi ucs3, including hanking, to the amount of SI0,000,000; that 30,000 labors arc employed; that a large area of Southern lands is suitable for no other purpose than rice culture. The sugar planters join in the petition and state that the effect of admitting Hawaiian sugar free would be greatly detrimental to their inter* ests.
