Complaints are being modo that'the
bridge on New Street near the depot,
is in need of repairs, and in fact is
unsafe. We would ask the attention
of Council to this fact. An uns??nd

affair, and may entail a heavy amount
of damages upon tlie town.

A MODEL STOl'llt--*^
Of the many handsome new 'stores
that have been built in Oraugeburg
since the fire, that of Fraiitz Brigg
mann, on Meroney's old'corner, is the I
prettiest. It fronts on Kussel Street
twenty-five feet and extends back
along B rough ton Sto?et seventy-five
feet, thus enjoying a clear front in ail
of one hundred feet. The construc
tion of the building is on tho modem
plan, and is calculated to reflect cred
it upon its builder, Mr. Cramer. The
shelves and counters in it arc nil fine
ly finished,.ami when filled with goods
will be the handsomest in Orangeburg.
Mr. Briggmann is a thoroughgoing
young man, aud does not admire the
penurious disposition that, would
prompt One tb build a store of refuse I
lumber. His! idea is that a well con
structed Ftoro is not only an ornament
to a town, but at once an advertise
ment for its proprietor. One feauturc
aoout this store has attracted conside
rable notice*: That is the beauty of
the drinking saloon in the rear. The
counter and'shelves arc artistically
finished in imitation of walnut, and
when set off with tho many good
things with which Mr. Briggmann in
tends to fill them, will surpass any
thing of Ute jkind in OrnngcbMrg. It
will be par excellence, tho saloon of the I
town. A place where a gentleman
