Tlie Model Negro Fanner.
There is a freedman livirg out in
south-western Georgia, upon the plantation
belonging to a gentleman of this
city, who lias run it for two years with
the usual results, and in consequence
has become not only grievousl y demoralized,
hut immensely disgusted. In
Jauuary last, he rented the place to
the aforesaid freedman for a certain
number of bales of cotton; at the same
time selling him alDtho-mules, corn
and fodder on the place, to be paid for
in cotton the first of December at farthest.
He also agreed to furnish the
ine^t necessary to run the place for
the year, which wastxf be paid for before
or by the above date. The renter
hUo agreed to keep up the fences,
etc., and return the farm to the owner
in fa good condition as. when put into

The humor of Frenchmen is occasionally
somewhat grim. A compact
was entered into many years ago by a
party of thirteen friends that they
should have an annual dinner, and
that upon the recurrence of the anniversary
banquet, if any of the party

for his spiritual presence. The company
