in mind that, as the law now stands, the
taxes must be paid in by the 15tb inst.,

A large number of Town Lots, Noa.
1132 to 1136 inclusive, 1027 to 1029 inclusive,
1117 to 1125 inclusive, belonging
to the estate of Mrs. Martha Dutton,
were sold at prices ranging from $-jti to

purchaser. Lot No. 1137, on Church
street, was bought by Allen McRae, at
$345.
The "Tiller Lands," 100 acres, were
purchased by I. F. Holland, at $70.
^e undivided moiety of 400 acres, ol
the Ancram Land, was bought by Wiley
Sheorn at $150.
Some sales of personal property wore
also made. Seed cotton sold at 3 cents pei
pound, ootton seed at 10 cents per bashel
corn at 50 cents per bnsbel, hay and fod
der at 40 cents per hundred pounds.

We were shown on yesterday bv an .
amateur kitchen gardener, a well matured
tomato, fresh from the vine. It is a curiosity
for the season.
We have been enjoying a spell of bad
i weather during the past week, warm, and
very wet. This is by way of a recompense
for the pleasures of fine weather, and the
Striae Bell Ringers the first of last week.
We call attention to tho advertisements of
our enterprising young merchants, and
worthy fellbw-townsmen, Messrs. Kirkley
k Garland. They offer the best of all
things in their line, Candies, Fruits, Tobacco
and Cigars, Groceries, etc. We are
glad to see that they are prospering in
business, and feel confident that they will
continue to receive the rewards that follow
liberality and fair dealing.
