The Cemetery.?His Honor, the Intendant,
gives notice that the Town Marshal
will take charge of all workmen who
may be sent to the oemetcry on Monday
next, and superintend their labors/in cleaning
np the grounds, repairing fences, &c.?
Let all bslp as tbsy may be able.
Town Election.?We call attention to
the election notice in another column. Our i
citizens will note tnat reguarauuu is ic^uusu
of all who propose to vote. The harmony
and good order that has resulted from the
compromise arrangement of last year, whereby
the claims of all parties were recognized,
we trust will induce a similar adjustment of
the Council this year. We call upon all good
citizens to keep all party bitterness out of
towo affairs. We presume a meeting will
be called of all those who will unite in the
organization of a ticket irrespective of party,
to make the nominations. Let all well wishers
of the community attend.
Nxw Store.?Mr. W. Wallace has
opened a new Dry Goods Store one door
above Dr. Young, where he will be pleased
to welcome bis old friends. See his advertisement.
Mr. R. M. Kennedy has returned and
ia now opening his large and elegant stock
of Spring Goods. See his advertisement.
Mr. Jos. 8 Cloud also announces the
opening of a very extensive an elegant
' stock of Spring Goods.
The Game Law.?The modification of
the game law permits the hunting of deer
from August to Deoember, inclusive, of wild
turkey, dovej partridge, woodcock, snipe
and pheasant, from the 15th day of October
to the 15th day of ApriL The robin is placed
withont the protection of the law and may
be killed at ail timet. When wo remember
"the babes iu the woods," in this connection,
we most say, "Republics are ungrateful."
The Last Flutter or the Ku Klux.
?A. meeting of certain persons was held in
York county recently, at Black's Depot,
wherever that may be, tho object of which
was to pledge the people of that county, "to
keep the peace, and to assure the government
of their intention to accord to every
person the free exercise of his political options
and privileges." As this is an admission
that theretofore they had not exerted
themselves to keep the peaoe, and did not
accord to every person the freo exercise of
his polities! opinions and privileges, it is
certainly time they should get about it, considering
the trouble they have brought upon
the ninety-nine hundredths of the innocent
people of the State, who have never at any
time failed to perform the duties, which they
are only now, for the first time reoognizing.
The last resolution of the meeting is in these
words:
uWo cordially and cheerfully endorse
Prcsido it Grant and his administration, aud j
pledge ourselves to its support."
Yerily, "the greater the sinner, the great
er the saint." We congratulate the President
and his administration on this important
acquisition. Wc have no doubt they
will value it at its true worth.
The Eastman Atlanta Braixicss Coi.lkge.?
