Salesday.?There was but a sliui attendance
upon the Sheriffs monthly sales on last
Monday and consequently what property was
sold brought low prices. The following list

The Late Drawing.?In a long editorial
in the Charleston Actr.s, explanatory of the
late drawing of the &outh Carolina
I/md and Immigration Association, we find
the following statement:

Camden greeted this distinguished troupe
with a large and appreciative audience, on
Tuesday evening at the Town If all. Their
fame evidently had preceded them, but none
c iuld have formed an adequate idea of the
exceedingly rich and enjoyable entertainment
awaiting them, from even the most flattering
report. Chaste, elegant, tasteful, sentimental,
pathetic and concise, this avcmuplishcd
company presented an intellectual treat which
could not fail to meet the expectations of the
most fastidious ta>tc.
The Merger family are a remarkable manifestation,
of the )avi>hncss of nature's gifts
#whcn in a generous mood, and cultivation
has added all that could be needed for their
development. ->otone of the troup but excels
in soUie special accomplishment, and ;is
a whole, they are inimitablo.
We can not forbear to notice, what to us.
was the most attractive and pleasing feature
of the entertainment: the exceeding versatility
of talent of Miss Anna Bcrgcr, that
bright-eyed child of genius, whose varied
performances, and unequalled excellence in
all, mark her as a prodigy of modest, and
Bccmingly unconscious talent.

We are glad to announce that the telegraph
line has been run on the poles of the
Western Union Telegraph Company, from the
crossing of the W. C. & A. H. It., to Columbia
We now have a reliable telegraph connection
running into the main office at- Columbia.
there will be no detention of business.
Mr. Cathcart, the Chief Operator at Columbia.
is well known as an old soldier at the
business, and we can depend on our business
being promptly forwarded. We hope those
of our citizens who have not yet assisted by
their means to ensure the cont inuance of the
telegraph line to Camden, will do so at once.
Many have already contributed liberally to
this object, and deserve the thanks of all,
that this line has been continued through
their liberality. The amount required to
effect this has not yet been raised, hut we
hope it will be in a few days.
Since the 1st of March, the rates of telegraphiug
have been greatly reduced, from
[ this place to all points. Mr. Witherspoon
has received the new tariff, which can be
seen at this office.

our fair friends and many of our male acquaintances
