Our Market Quotations.?With this
issue, wc commence the publication of regular
sales and quotations of cotton , sold in this
market, and also, the latest ma rkct reports
from Liverpool, New York, Baltimore and
(Charleston. These reports are made up from
the telegrams contained in Wednesday's
4aily papers, so that our pnrtrons will know
the latest prices as early as thoso who take
the dailies.

The Solicitor Absent.?From a private
souree, we learn than the Hon. W. II. Talley,
Solicitor 5th circuit, will not bo present
at the Court ne*t week. Tho condition of
Mr. Talley's health, is sneh as to forbid his
attendance. The Judge x*ill appoint some
one of the Bar here, we suppose, to represent
the State. We regret to he^ 0f Mr. Tal- '
Joy's ill health, and hope that bo will soon
he able to return to his post, to continue his
useful labors as Solicitor of our Circuit.

Happy Co.vsumatiox.?Sinco the
adoption of the ordinance to regulate tho
market, a great and happy change has taken
place. Instead of not being able to procure
a piece of beef for dinner, our citizens have
now a latitude of ehoioo, hitherto unknown.
Last Saturday, five beeves, besides other
meat, Were sold in the market, and more
could have been. Persons can now engage beef
at the market, to be delivered to any part of
the town, free of charge. Additional stalls
are being ercctod for the accommodation of
the butchers.

an epidemic form in Charleston. The
papers and private letters inform us that
the spread, if any, is imperceptible, and that
the panic which was at first very great, has
subs'ded, and persons are determined to look
the thing in the face. We hope this may
prove true, and the great old city again resume
its wonted health, with greater prosperity
than ever before.

to the copartnership notice of Mr. William
Wallace and Mrs. M. L. Burns, which appears
in this issue. We bespeak for the
firm a liberal patronage.
Mr. Wallace, the business manager, has
been long known to our people as connected

Tiik Fioht Continues.?The County
Auditor, Capt. J. I. Yillipiguc. having obtained
the opinion of Hon. D. II.- Chamberlain,
Attomey-dcneral. has moved into an
office, next. door to the Treasurer. The
Chairman of the County Commissioners is
very much opposed to the arrangement, but
we learn that a majority of the Board is
aga'nst the Chairman, who will perforce succumb.
This, wc hope, will end the battle.
We think that the interests of the public

Arrival ok tiik Isis.?The .steamer
[sis, Cajit. Bates, arrived here on 31onday
last, from Norfolk, after a passage of sixteen
lays. She entered the Wntcree last Saturlay,
but owing to the bad condition of the
river, did not come ud above the Railroad
bridge until Sunday. She found the river
very low and full of snags. Capt. Slocum,
who is in command, informs us that the
r'.vcr can be made navigable at any stage of
water by removing some few snags. The
Isis will be here about two weeks to be refitted,
as all of her upper saloon and pilot
house were taken off to get under the bridge.
Her dimensions arc as follows": 110 length
iiud -0 feet beam. She will carry 350 bales
of cotton, and accommodate one hundred
passengers. She draws 3J feet when loaded.

Saturday. night, broke through one of the
cast windows of the Court House, and proceeded
deliberately to take to pieces the
docks used for criminals on their trial, uns
rewing the rails and putting thein and the
which held them on, aside, and leaving
nothing but the bottom of the docks.
Some boys found them in Piue Tree
Creek, below Camden, and they have
been brought up to be fixed for Court.
What motive the burglars could have had
cannot be conceived. Nothing else about
the Court room was disturbed. ;
An old woman who lives in a yard adjoining, j
heard some noise in the Court House, on ,
the night of the burglary, but paid very lit- ,
tie attention to it, thinking it must havo
been made by some person who was authorized
to enter it. ,
