"a great medicine " "We have uniformly refrained from recommending to the public any of the various Patent Medicine* of the day, unless thoroughly convinced of their value. Among those we consider worthy of notice is the German Bitters, invented bv Dr. Hoofland.and prepared by Dr. Jackson, irt Philadelphia. One instance in particular, in which the sui>eriur virtues of this medicine have been tested, has fallen under ?ur observation. During the last summer, a win ol Mr. Abraham Brahill, of this country, was very seriously afflicted with Liver Complaint, and after trying in vain various remedies, he purchased a bottl- of the Bitters and after using it, was so much relieved of his distressing malady that he procured another bottle, and is restored entire' ly to health. head further a few facts. "We again call attention to the removal of the German Medicine spire, the principal depot for the sale of Dr. Hoofland's German Bitters, from 278 Rare to 120 Arch street, ?j -i i one door below Sixth. We wish him success in Ins new quarters; lie is deserving of it. The Bitters Mixture is without doubt the greatest medicine extant for diseases of the Liver and Bowels. A stnbhorn case of Chronic Diarrhoea has c?me under our notice, wherein the patient had exhausted the Materia Medina* of the different schools of medicine with no apparent benefit. He w a? induced to use these bitters, and a few bottles of them luvve entirely cured him: Many such cases we could refer to. We hope our readers wi l recollect this great restorative, should thev be so unfortunate as to require its use. Noah, a gentleman w ith great scientificand literary attainment*, said in hi* "New Vork Weekly Messenger, Jan. 6. 1850, "Da Hoof lakh's German Bitters.?Here i* a prepara;ion which the leadimt presses in the Union appear to oe unanimous in recommending, amfxhe reason i* obvious. It i* made after a prescription furnished by one of the most celebrated physicians of modern lime*, the late Dr. Christopher Wtlhefm Hooflaml, Professor to the University of Jena. Private Physician to the King of I'rumia, and one of the greatest medical writers Germany has ever produced, lie was emphatically the enemy of humbug, and therefore a medicine of which he was tie* inventor and endorser may be confidently relied on. He specially recommended it in v liver complaint, dysjiepsia. debility, vertigo, acidity of the stnmnrh, constipation, and all complaints arising from a disordered condition of the stomach, the liver and the intestines. Nine Philadelphia papers express their conviction of its excellence, and several of the editor* speak of its effects from their own individual experience. Under these riicutustaiices we feel warranted nut only in calling tbo attention of our readers to the present proprietor's (Dr. C. M, Jackson's) preparation, but in recommending the article to all afflicted." MORE EVIDENCE. The " Philadelphia Saturday Gazette," the best family newspaper published in the United State*, the editor says of ? DR. HOIIFLAM)'* HERMAN BITTERS. In these days, abounding in fruit, it behoves every one to be prepared with a remedy for the evil etiects which it sometimes produces?we have been told by those that knew and who have tried it?that Keeler's Cordial is an tuiicle which has been used in some of the severest cases ol Summer Complaint, both in infants and grown persons. Dr. Keeler's Cordial.?We would call the attention of our readers to this invaluable medicine, which will be found advertised at length in our columns. As a corrective in cases of Diarrhaia, a disease very prevalent at the present lime, n is highly spoken of by all who have used it.? It is perfectly sale in its nature, and we sjieak experimentally , when we say that it affords immediate relief. From the Pennsylvania Inquirer, Sep. 1st. 1817. Dr. Keeler's Cordial and Carminative This article is advertised in another part or our paper, it is warmly recommended by families who have tied it. It is especially useful among children, and has effected hundreds of cures. The doctor is abundantly supplied with testimony upon the subject, some of which is very strung. The Cordial is not a quack nostrum, but a carefully prepared medicine, anil perfectly free from any thing injurious. From the Uaily PennsyTvanian, Sept. lGth 1817. We are constrained to say that the ,Carminative"Jof Dr. Keeler's now extensively used in this City, is rapidly making its way to public lator.
