steamers of this line, from Ch rleston to Wilmington,
are in first rate condition, and are navigated
by well known and experienced commanders,
and the Railroads are in fine order, thereby
securing both safety and despatch. A THROUGH
TICKET having already been in operation will
be continued on and after the first of Oct. 1*49,
as a permanent arrangement from Charleston to
New York. Passengers availing themselves there
of, will have the option to continue without delay
through the route or otherwise, to stop at any immediate
points, renewing their seats on the line to
suit their convenience. By this route travellers
may reach New York on the third day during business
hours. Baggage will be ticketed on board
the steamer to Weldon, as likewise on the change
of cars, at the intermediate points from thence to

the Sheriff*of Kershaw District, by virtue of a
Writ of Capias ad Satisfaciendum, at the suit of
H. Holleyman, Jr., h ving filed in my office, together
with a schedule, on oath, of his estate and
effects, his petition to the Couri of Common Pleas,
praying that he may be admitted to the benefit of
the Acts of the General Assembly made for the
relief of Insolvent Dedtors. It is ordered, that the
said H, Holleyman, Jr., and all other the creditors
to whom the said John H Trusdel, is in anywise
ndebted, be, and they arc hereby summoned, and
have notice to appear, before the said Court at
Camden, on Monday the fourth day of November
next, to shew cause, if any they can, why the pray
er of the petition aforesaid, should not be granted.

The Faculties, for intellectual abilities, moral
worth and professional acquirements, will compare
fav? rable with the most distinguished in our coun
try. The medical faculty constitutes an anomaly
in this or any other country?all of them are able
lecturers and the best of teachers*.
Those who will contemplate our geographical
position, and the extent of our population, can have
no doubt as to the eligibility of out situation for an
enterprise of the kind. As to health, including
all seasons of the year, we deny that ant other
citt has more.
A common error exists in the minds of many
students relative to the place of studvioir medicine;
those who intend practicing among the diseases ol
the West and South should certainly educate
themselves ata school whose faculty are practically
acquainted with those diseases.
That the public may be satisfied of the permanency
of this ecb< ol, we feel it our duty to state,
that the Trustees and Faculty-form a unit in action
which augurs well for its future success; and that
the peculiar internal organization which connects
them, cannot be interrupted.
