Hence the popular impression is. (utterly false however) that consumption is incurible. This opinion \vc hall endeavor to combat by facts. From a sense of gratitude, and a desire that the aflhoted may have resource to a truly invaluable medicine, I would state the benefit 1 have experienced from the u?e of Thomson's Compound Syrup of Ta and Wood Naptha. He accordingly applied a plaster on the rightside of his chest, where the pain was seated, another between the shoulders, and one over the region of the liver. In the meantime he drank freely of an herb tea of laxative qualities. A common consequence of this affection is a kind of tenomas, or bearing down sensa'ion, as it is familiarly called; there is also heat, tension and throbbing in the part, varying from a moderate degree of these senslitions to the tmtst excruciating suffering;?these are caused by the flow of blood to the parts. Individuals sometimes experience, previous to an attack of the Piles, sv mpturns denoting great derang -merit in their circulation; there is a sense of w eight anil pressure in the abdomen, with a peculiar feeling of uneasiness in the bowels, constipation or perinaeum, attended witli pain in the hack and loins, nausea, and slight pains in I lie stomach, pale countenance, confused sensations in the head, weariness, and irritable and discontented state ol mind, and a sense of fulness and oppression in the -egion of the stomach.
