II hinpiig Cough. Croup. Hives. Nervous 'Prentonrs.
Liver Somplninl. Diseased Kidneys, and
Affections generalht of the Throat, Breast,
and Lungs,
Of all the diseases incident to our climate there is none
80 universal, ami at the same time so insiuiou? anu iuuu aConsumptiun.
In tliis country especially, Ptil tie-nary Consumption
is emphatically a scourge, and in its resistless career,
sweeps over the laud as aDestroying Angel, laying
low, with a relentless hand, the strongest and lairest of our
race. .Hitherto all efforts to arrest this dread disease have
proved vain, and all that seemed within our power was
at best the alleviation of suffering, rendering somewhat
smoother, the certain progress to the tomb.
The Proprietor, in offering this preparation to the public,
would embrace the opportunity to state upon what grounds
it puts forth its merits; and the reason upon which it founds
its superior claims to the attention of the afflicted, that ail
who require its use may repose full confidence in its curative
powers. Since its fiist preparation he has had the
pleasure of witnessing its happy results in numerous instances;
bit- In^as determined not to offer it to the public until
he had become thoroughly convinced of its efficacy. Having
such conviction, lie now confidently offers it as a remedy
wilitout a parallel in the cure of PULMONARY" CON
SUMPTION and its kindred diseases.
Let the folly wing speak for itself?
' I have used Thomson's Compound Syrup of Tar and
Wood Napthft, for some time in my practice, and have
found it the must efficient remedy I ever used in Consumptive
cases, chronic catarrh, ?fcc., when great irritability,
with weakness of the pulmonary organs existed. The rapidity
with which it acts is greatly in its favor where dyspnoea
or oppression exists, which is immediately relieved
ov it. In Pulmonary Consumption it can be used with
confidence, being applicable to every form of that disease,
ard I consider ii a medicine well worthy the attention of
Physicians, and exempt from the imputation of empiricism.*'

JEW DAVID'S OR HEBREW PLASTER
WHERE THIS PLASTER IS APPLIED PAIN CAXM'T
EXIST.
A gentleman in the South ol Europe, and Palestine, in
1830 heard so much said in the latter (dace in favor of Jew
David's Plaster, and of the (as lie considered.) miraculous
cures it had performed, that he was induced to try it on
his own person, for a Liver affection, the removal of which
had been the chief object of his journev, hut which had
resisted the genial influence of that balmy and delicious
clime.
He accordingly applied a plaster on the right side of his
chest, where the pain was seated, another between the
shoulders, and one over the region of the liver. In the
meantime he drank freely ofan herb tea of laxative qualities.
He soon found his health improving, and in a few
weeks his cough left him, sallowness of his skin disappeared,
his pain was removed, and his health became permanently
reinstated.
Since that time he has been recommending it to his
friends and acquaintances for all fixed pains whatever
such as Rheumatism, Gout. Pain in the side, hip, hack
and iimhs, in every case of wnich it has proved an efficient
cure. He has likewise witnessed the happy effects
of its softening and healing qualities in numerous cases o
Scrofulous Humors, Knots, Wens, White Swellings, Hard
Tumors, Stiff"Joints, Ague Cakes, Ague in the Breast, and
the like, to the united satisfaction of himself and others.
It lias been beneficial in cases of Weakness, such as paid
and weakness in the Stomach, weak Limbs, Lameness
Affections of the Spine, Female Weakness, ij-c. No female
subject to pain or weakness in the hack or sides,
should be without it. Married ladies in delicate situations
find great relief from constantly wearing this plaster.
The application of the plaster between the shoulders has
been found a certain remedy for ('olds. Coughs, Phthysic,
and Lung Affections, in their primary stages. It destroys
* inflammation by perspiration.
In view of the great benefit resulting from the use of this
plaster, within his own observation, his confidence in its
superiority over every othes plaster, ointment and opadildoe,
before the public in this country, has induced this
gentleman to place the Hebrew Plaster into the hands o
those who will give it publicity, believing it will prov
itselfa blessing L? the community at large.
Tins peculiarities of the chemical comj>ound are owing
to its extraordinary effect upon the animal fibres or nerves,
ligaments and muscles, its virtue being carried by tlieni to
the immediate seat of th** disease or of pain and weakness.

with Dyspepsia, and a general derangement of the system.
I employed different physicians, with no good result,
and they at least told me they could do no more for m*. and
mid that I must die. I thus had given up all hopes of ever
having my health restnred. until 1 had called to mind the
benefits that a nephew of mine in Philadelphia (Benjamin

by your medicine, that 1 purchased a hot, which, to
