He is six feet in height, and about forty-five years of age. In figure he is rather stout, and very erect; having nothing peculiar in his appearance, except that his face is ^ slightly pitted with tho small pox, and tho calves of his legs are unusually prominent from his knees, ' inclining backwards. He has a slight impediment in his spoech?lias a marked propensity for using I "big words," and invariably makes use of the letters til. for d. For instance, instead of ladder, he ^ would say lather.
