TTAGUE &GIFFORD having purchasI ed the Hotel formerly Davis's will continue the establishment on the same liberal scale as heretofore, and will exert themselves to make it a desirable resilience for Boarders and Travellers, as their table will always be supplied with the best the market altords, and their bar with the best liquors, and their Stables with attentive Ostlers and abundant provender. The establishment will be under the exclusive management of T. A. Hague, formerly of the Salisbury Hotel North Carolina. and his long experience, will enable him to give general satisfaction. AIV ORDINANCE TO LEVY A PATROL TAX. 1. Be it enacted by the lntcndant and Wardens of the Town of Camden, now met and in Council assembled, That on annual tax of four dollars shall be paid by each person liable to perform patrol duty within the limits of the said town, to the Recorder of the said Town, at the time prescribed by the Ordinances for the payment of other Town Taxes of the said Town, which said Tax when so paid shall exempt the person so paying ftom the per; formancc of patrol duty within the limits I of the said town, for the space of onecur! rent year in which the same shall be paid. | 2. That executions shall be issued against all persons liable to pay the said tax, for double the amount, who shall fail to pay the same, according to the terms of this Ordinance, in the same manner, and under the same regulations that double Tax Executions are now issued for other Taxes of the said town. 3. That any person liable to perform patrol duty, who may or shall come into the said town to reside, ofter the first day of January, in any year, shall pay a Tax for tho remainder of such year in proper tion to the above Tax according to the time. 4. That upon special application being made to the Council, that Council shall have power to receive from any person liable to perform patrol duty, who may be residing within the said town on the first day of January, but who does not intend to reside therein the whole year, a sum proportionate to the above Tax according to the time the person shall so reside in the said town.
