The man or woman who has not heard
of Merchant's Gargling" Oil is poorly
posted indoed. Perhaps no article evei
manufactured for the core of man and
beast, has done more good, or gained
a wider celebrity, than this. It is
sold the world over, and wherever it is
used there is but one opinion in regard
to it, and that is the highest man can
bestow. For diseases in cattle and
horses it is invaluable. It is a liniment
that does up its work speedily and effectually,
and leaves limb and body sound
and healthy. Whole columns might
be written in its praise, without exhausting
its merits. It is manufactured
at Lockport, N. Y., and is sold by

The Chicago Ledger is said to have
spent $60,000 in advertising the past two
years, and by the looks of the newspapers
throughout the United States, we
should say it would take as much to go
round this year. And to cap the climax
the proprietors have announced their
paper at $1.00 a year. How it is done is a
mystery, unless they have more than "a
barrel of money " to give away. We believe,
however, it is the theory of the
publishers that all they ask of the reader
is to nav forthn 3 1
K-J {/B{nu uiu inWHtKe;
for their labor, when the paper reaches
100,000 or more circulation, their advertising
will pay the profit. While they
are building up the paper they do not
Boliait advertising, and hence the readers
get a great paper for $1.00 that is
worth $8.00. As the publishers have
the money, no doubt thev will sucoeed.
