PPThe only evidence of New Years
l ?>n Saturday was music from the fife of
Cheney, assisted by his drums. The crnzy
woman aeenicd to enjoy the treat most,
and owing to her limited intellect she was
the most capable of appreciating it.
EBTA bencvotcnt individual with a
table of knives and rings to tit them,
generously offered our citizens an opportunity
of making a raise on New Yoars
day, but from the language used by
those who availed themselves of his
generosity we imagine he was not appro
ciated.
par*A man named,Patrick Brautley was

The county c mimissoncro met nt the
court house Monday evening. P resent,
Pritchnrd and Scott. The report of the
county treasurer was received showing
a balance to thc.crcdit of the Poor fund
of $40.00, and of county funds $17,TO.
In reply to a question as to the Past
Indebtedness fund, the treasurer handed
in a communication stating that the
balance to the credit of this fund
amounting to about $3it0. had not been
turnod over to hiiu by N. 13. Myers, late
treasurer. A lett- r was read from Henrv
Goctbe giving a list of bridges ncoding
repair amounting to 720 feet at McBiidc's
Ford and the amount of material necessary
to put them in order. The estimate
was so large that the commissioners
1 thought it best to defer action for the
present. C. F. Pritchard presented bills
* for building bridges, one at Belle Isle tor
v $00, and oue at Sandy Run for $85., which
were audited and certificates issued in
payment. Adjourned.
The board met again Tuesday. A

of the asylum no more temalc paT

was present to the board charging Lewis
Scott with fa lling liquor without licence
and the commissioners decided to prose

The most exciting event of the meeting
was the opening of proposals for feeding
the poor for the year 187?,% Eleven bids
were made and the contract awarded to
W. H. Devlin at the rate of eleven and
Feven-eightli cents per day. Bids wcro
I then opened for rebuilding, several
bridges, Wm. Fuller offeilng to build

Pritchurd offering to do the same work
