two and ono-balf millions sterling have just
been issued in London. Three-fifths of this
sum are guaranteed by the Imperial government,

from Berlin says that the estimates for the
German empire for 1876 show a deficiency of

Britain a number of vessels were lost and

of Hiram Walton, of Ileroer, Me., who has
been living with Qreenleaf Tracy, was shot
and killed by Tracy in a At of jealousy. He
then fled to the woods and shot himself. Both
were dead when found Henry Brown, the
negro who killed Phillip Pf arr, a German, living
a few miles from St. Louis, and then
ravished and robbed his wife, was hangfed in
the yard of the jail. In a brief speech made
on the scaffold, he admitted having struck

denied outraging Mrs. Pfarr.
The oensus of Massachusetts for 1875 shows
a population of 1,661,652 The initial revival
by Moody and Sankey was held in Brooklyn,

N. J., a boy named Edwin Cramer was burned
to death. His sunt, Miss Cramer, attempted
to escape from an upper window, when the
