Despite the ravages of Ciucinnati
"Bustbead" and Kentucky Bourbou, old
. * Prentice is not yet quite "burned out,"
as will be seen by the following fitful
flashes, which we find in the Louisville
; Journal, of the 7th :
The editor of the New Orleans True.
Delta says he cannot see, from any in%
telligence he has, that "the status of
Gen. Bunks is effected in the slightest
degree." We think that his "status"
was very considerably affected by the
disgraceful whipping ho got from Dick
Taylor. If it wasn't, it is a very hard
status to effect
Gen. Grant now occupies the cetebra"Wbite
House," a few miles out of
Richmond, as his headquarters. We
wish that the still more celebrated White j
House at Washington were a fhousanfh
part as well occupied.
The radicals say) with a singular dis- (
regard of truih, that they are unconditioually
for the Union. Unconditionally
for what Union ? Any that the people
< of this country ever saw.
Last Saturday, one of the "pedagogues
who have flogged" President Lincoln, '
paid him a visit at the White House.?

Charleston, S. C., July 19, 186-4
Twenty-five hundred able-bodied negroes
are immediately needed to work on
the fortifications around Charleston, and
under the pressure of this necessity, impressments
have been ordered [ feel
confident, however, that the people bf
this State need only be informed of the
wants of the military authorities to ensure
a prompt response to this appeal, and 1
therefore call upon them to furnish without
deloy their respective quotas, established
by the law of the State,
Full credit will be given upou the next

be voluntarily s'-ut- forward, and the Gov

attach in the ease of negroes impressed,
and will take the saute care of them.
If the Planters in different neighborhoods
will have th' ir negroes c -Hefted

Major W. II. Echols, Chief Engineer, of
the time and place selected, agents will
be sent to receive tlietu.

of The negroes torn from
