? ?i mmm-jr?amrnfimi i in.Hi! OBITTJAI^V. Departed thin life, on thy seventh of October last, on his farm, in Georgia, JACOB LITTLE, in the sixty-math year of his age. His health had been failing (br two years previously, and finally for six weeks before his death he was compelled to take to his bed, and after great suffering yielded up his spirit. These sufferings were borne with remarkable patience and Christian resignation. He had long wished for death, and seemed to court it, and welcome it as a friend, with all the strength of his vigorous mind, with.a truthfulness and earnestness which few persons exhibit in their latter days or at any time. He arranged and settled all his "business in life with as much composure of mind and steadiness of purpose, a^ if he was about to go on a journey for a long time. He died an acceptable member of the Methodist lipiseopal church, of which communion ne had been a member for many years._ His last days were marked with much and el"e cominunion with his Maker. A friend who stood by his bedside on Ins last day, informed him that death was approaching him ? he answered, "all is right," and soon thereafter breathed his last. These were bis last words in life, and happy the man who can say them in truth, and feel that truth as ho did. That friend, knowing hint for many vent's-past, his course of life and his christian experience, gives it as his full belief that he fell asleep in Jesus, and is now among the company of the just made perfect, in the world of spirits. In the tin- ; bounded benevolence of it is Maker, his earnest j wish and prayer was accorded to him, that he might diu in his senses and without a struggle, j "all is right." Lifes duties litiished, with appro- j bation of his fellow-man, and in obedience to j the laws of his Maker, he ascends to his God to receive the rewards of a well spent christian life. He was born in Cabanas county. No. Ca., but was removed to this State in ohildhood, and remained here until 1851, when ho removed to Georgia. His employment was as planter, overseer and manger. In this capacity he gave satisfaction to those with whom he was engaged. Devoted to the occupation of planting, fond of the pursuit as a business, with the power and hahit of close observation, a clear bead and sound judgment, coupled with an iron constitution, which enabled him to undergo any amount of fatigue, bo excelled as a planter, Few m??n could manage a crop, with the facility, ease and power which he did. lie was eminently successful in inventing shortcuts to gain his aim in managing the crop. Ilis indomitable energy and force of will seemed to compel the very elements to aid him. bv taking prompt advantage of their changes. Ilis long experience, retentive memory, sound judgment and great energy, gave him advantages as a planter which few men possessed, and which are the chief grounds of his success as a planter. His devotion to the interests of those who employed him was so great as to leave nothing to he complained of, or more du sired; and his entire honesty with them al ways won their respect and confidence. And in truth the traits of his character which are thus described enabled him to make a lasting impression upon the community in which he resided, both in this State and in Georgia, and : commanded the respect and admiration of all \ good men. Such he was. Ue has left us to enjoy the fruits of a well spent life in the realms of bliss. "All is right." D iflisT TO BE HAD AT JOSEPH SO MINERS' STORE (Opposite the Market.)
