that the only casualties' in Capt. Leitner's
Company, resulting from the late engagements
at Chancoilorsvillo and adjacent, were Sergeant
David II. Ryan and private D. E. Koiley, both
slightly.
The entire 2d Regiment?Col. J. D. Kennedy?passed
through the thickest of tho fight,
without the loss of a single man.
.* Capt. J- P. Cunninguam, of the Fiat Rock
Guards, reports but one casualty in his company?that
of Lieut. Wm Patterson, slightly
wounded.

The Killing Gen. Van Dorn.?'The telegraph
brings us intelligence of the death of
General Van Dorn, ,al the hands of a man
named Peters, in Columbia, Tennessee, but
gives no inkling of the cause which led to the
commission of the bloody deed. There are vuinors
in circulation, however, in regard to the
affair, which, it'true, will go far t?? excuse the
act oi killing, and places the names of the dead
officer in no enviable light before the country,

D'lsrceli, speaking of the refined and charming
women, says:
