Tiik Yankees Trying the Telegraphic Dodge.?An interesting colloquy occurred on yesterday, between r bogus Confederate operator, or the GordonsVillc line, and the operator in this city. This bravo and generous hearted youth responded cheerfully to the first call made by bis old mother State, shouldered bis musket (and in the bloom of youth gave to his father and mother and live devoted sisters tho parting hand, who bitterly mourned tho separation, but now their irreparable loss more bitterly), took up the lino of march to share the privations of a camp life, and lay down bis life for bis country's sake. His associates write from the camp, saying: "Thcro never was a man moro cheerful and willing in performing bis duty than William?neither was thcro a braver soldier." Hut the beauty of all is told in bis being a soldier of the Cross, llo joined the If. H. Baptist Church in this District, and on the 14th day of August. 1S58, by the Rov. J. R. Rodgers, was buried with Christ in baptism, from which time lie led a strictly pious life, adhering to all the principles taught by Christ. The writer from the camp further says, that ho has seen him on many occasions, when wickedners was prevalent in the tent where he staid, take his Testament and repair to the shade of a neighboring tree, and road the word of God, showing by action, if not in word to the wicked, that their course was criminal He leaves a large circle of friends, besides tho family, to mourn over their loss; but our loss is bis eternal gain, lie sweetly sleeps on the battle-field before Richmond.
