Tkrge^mhlporU ob the Pamonky - l^deir with commissary and ordnance stores. The . Medical Director of Jackson's army re* ports, nooffioiallv, in a letter from PortRepub- 1 lie, that on Sunday the enemy left on the field 1,000 dead and wounded, and on llonday 12,- . 00 dead and wounded and 700 prisoners. The Confederate loss in killed and wounded was { 2OP on Sunday and 900 'on Monday., The Richmond TT.vnmm/r lcnmn hv a recent arrival from Norfolk that on* of the regiments ordered to march to reinforce McClellan, mutinied, and that sixty of the men were shot before order and obedience were seenred. At the time of the departure of the Examiner*8 informant? sixteen English war vessels and, four ' iron clad, one amopg which was thought to be the Warrior, were in Hampton Roads. The canse of the visit of this fleet was unknown, but gave rise to many surmises, both among ' our own people and the Yankees. i ? . < News from Europe. Richmond, June 15.?The Africa has arrived ] at Halifax, with Liverppool dates to the 31st ult. The French army in Rome is about to be reduced to a single division. The English Conservative party have collected all their strength for the purpose of upsetting Lord Palmerston ' on the retrenchment question, and a ministe- i "rial crisis is deemed imminent. Mr. Lindsay 1 has given notice that he would call attention to the relations of England with the Federal 1 and Confederate States on the 27th of June. The London Times, of May 27tb, says that Lincoln was right in describing the war as "a big job." "It is," says the Timest "the biggest job of the hind ever seen, and no more a ninety days business. The battles known to be imminent will exceed in severity any hitherto w * fought." The Times, alluding to the infamous proclamation of Butler, says that "it rerlizes all that was ever told of tyranny by the victor over the vanquished," and that "the state of fkj||yery endured by the ncgros of New Orleans cannot be more absolute than that now suffered by the whites of that city." From Chattanooga. Chattanooga, June 14.?Chattanooga it still threatened. The enemy is reported to be below Shell Mound, on the opposite side of the river, at Rankin's Ferry. It is supposed to he Mitchell's force. A picket skirmish took place at that point last night Col. Starnes' 3d Tennessee cavalry, who were supposed to be cut off, came in this morning. They had a skir* mish with the enemy's cavalry, near Murfreesboro, in which they capturod 68 prisoners and killed 8. A battle is hourly expected between Kirby Smith's forces and Gen. Morgan, in Pow.111. tt_11 oil s v ancy. Yankee Corruption and Deoeneract.? The Washington correspondent of the Cincinnati Commercial, not having the fear of Fort Warren before his eyes, speaks out in the following plain manner: Shall I say a word of public corruption? The torrent cannot now be stayed. It is overwhelming. Fortunes on fortunes are being made, and will be made by favorites, and there 'seems to be no help for it except in general repudiation. If I were to tell you the onehundredth of what I know yon and I would be in Fort Warren or Lafayette in a fortnight. I don't mean to say that the secretaries connive at or profiit by theso speculations; on the con trary, 1 am confident they set their faces against them, but they are powerless under the vast amount of business under their hands, and the pressing necessity of their departments. I need not write you about the present Congress?Senate and House. Nothing marks the decline of the Republic more than the degeneracy of these bodies. There is hardly a first class intelledt in either. The Republic has from the highest sunk to the lowest depth. God grant that we may rise again. Chaplains. ? The last act of the Confederate States Congress; in reference to pay of Chaplains in the army, approved by the President April 19, 1862, allows them a salary of eighty dollars per month, with rations for one man. It^ives them no rank, and enacts nothing farther in regard to their position and duties.?Southern Pretbyterian. n?. 1 <l|Rtrii91 800 NOTICE.
