In answer to the nmm.ous enquiries which have been made by the different "Aid Societies which have been recently formed throughout the State, I have been intruded by his Excellency Gov. Pickens, to give uit* louowing lniormnuon. Depots will be established by the Quartermaster General, I otli in Charleston and < oluuibia, lor the i eception of all donations of clothing; and he is also charged with the duty of forwarding and distributing the same. The " Department'' will receive all donations of clothing, say I'roek corns and pantaloons, of heavy worsted goods, shirts and drawers, of heavy homespun or tlanncl. wool, or heavy cot cm socks, blankets, new or second hand, also heavy shoes. The plan upon which the Mate designs supplying j her soldiers with ah necessary cloth ng, is based upon their willingness to surrender to the St.te the amount of money appropriated by the Con federate Government for this purpose, say forty-two ($12) per annum, this stun not now being suflieient in consequence of the greatly advanced cost of materi d. It is in view of this fact that these liudabo " Associations" of ladies and gentlemen, are cordially welcomed as coadjutors in this nob e work, and .11 proportion to their voluntary contributions of labor and materials, will the absolute cost of clothing for our gallant volunteers he reduced. In the event that any of the 4 Associations" should not feel theinse ves abe to furnish both material and labor, the Quartermaster tJeneral is instructed by his Kxeelleney f e Governor to re- inburse such Assoeia IK'IID IIIV VW.M VI ?i?
