The tindereigned having bfcen engaged in
publio service when the Reginents of this State
now in the field, where organized, aro desirous
of, raising a Regimcnt'hnd returning to the seat
of war. - Having, f^socinted themselves togeth*
?ar, nicy comipenced operations with a view to
tij#t end, but have been compelled to moke &
change io their plans. As his Excellency the
Governor,declincfl to allow any more troops to
be raised in the State until lh$ three thousand
called for to go into camps ot instruction, are
organized, they would respectfully suggest to
those Companies which have been kind enough
to offer themselves, and to those about todoeo,
to report without delay directly to the Adju
tant-General, as Companies formed under the
proclamation of the Goveruor.
After the Cumpaoii* have reached the cpmps
of instruction, they will beorgonlzed Suto Regi
ments, and each Regiment will have the privi
lege of electing its own Field Officers. If eith
er shall elect the undersigned for its Field Ofjl
cera, gratefully thoy will accept the honor;
but desiring to leave the"election untrammeled
by influence or solicitation, they simply declare
their earnest 'determiuation to discharge the
duties of-tiny stations which may be assigned
to them according to the best of their abilities.,
