Being In the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may bunt oul in disease 011 ony part of it. No organ is free from iU attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously causcd by mercurial disease, low living, elisor* dcred or unhealthy food, impure air, filth au4 filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above nil, by the venerial infection. Whatever be it* origin, it is hereditary in tho constitution descending "from parents to children unto the tlnrd nnd fourth generationindeed, it seem* to be the rod of 11 iin who says, "I will visit the iniquities of tho fathers upon their children." Its cfTeota commence by disposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, Vhich, in the lungs, liver, and ii.ternal organs, is termed tubercles ; in the glands, swellings ; and on the surface, eruptins or sores. This foul corrup,-. tiou, which genders in the blood, depresses th*. energies of life, ho t hat scrofulous constitntiom not only sutler from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the at* tacks of other diseases; consequently, vast lumbers perish by disorders which although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of tho consumption which dccinmtes the humftp f(\?MIv has its origin directly in this contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys. brnin, and indeed, of all the organs arise from "r are aggravated by the some cause. One quarter of nil our people are scrofulous their persons are invaded by this lurking fyfection, and their henlth is undermined ny it, To cieanee it lroin the system we must renovate the blood by nn nlterntive medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a mcdiciue we supply iu Ayer's Compact Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal malady. It is com-, bined from the most active remedial* that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consoquencea.
