Dear Sir : Rhodes'Soper-Pliosphate lias been
appliedby me this year.on a small scale, to both
Corn and Cotton. The result exceedep raj- expectation,
although the experiments, for many
reason?, were not, and could not be conducted
villi due caution; yet I am entirely satisfied,
t hat the growth of weed, in both instances, the

were fully double the yield in the portions unmanured,
and this when only a taule-ppoonful
of the Super- Phosphvte was applied as a topdressing
to each hill of corn, and a tea-spoonfnl
to each stalk of cotton?and the last as late in
the eeaBou as the 18th of July. Some of the
weed grew to nino feet high, with six feet
brandies, covercd with bolls, while the unmanured
was not half so good. It is my intention
next year, to test it more folly.
Very Respectfully,
Your most ob't serv't.

Gents.?I bought a ton of Rhodes' SoperI'hosphate
in Bnltimore, last Spring, Mr. H. D.
Lcitner, of Berzelia, to test il? value as a manure.
1 put about 125 lbs. on an acre of cotton,
id the drill, od land that would not make over
*75 to 100 lbs. of seed cotton per acre, without
Manure. The result is entirely satisfactory.
I hare made at least from 450 to 600 lbs. to the
awe oo this very poor land. I expect to purehaee
from 5 to 8 tons for my Spring crop. My
Oterseer wishes me to put his name to this also.
Yours, in great haste,

Scrofula or King* Evils*
Is a constitutional disease a corruption of th
blood, by which this fluid becomes vitiated,
weak, and poor. Ruing iu the circulation, at
pervades the whole body, and may bunt ?tit
iu disease on any part of it. No organ is free
from iU attacks, nor is there ono which it mcr
not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously
causcd by mernurihl disease, low llvinr, disordeted
ot unhealthy food, impure air, mtb and
filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above
all, by the venerial infection. Whatever be iU
origin, it is hereditary in the constitution descending
"from parents to children unto the
third and fourth eeueration:" indeed, itaetm*
to be the rod of Uim who Bayi, -I will visit
the iniquities of the fathers upon their children."
Its effects commence by difposition from *h?
blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in
thu lungs, liver, and internal organs, is tanned
tubercles ; in t he glands, swellings ; and on the
sin face, eruptins or sores This foul corruption,
which genders in the blood, depresses the
energies of life, bo ? hat scrofulous constitutions
not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but
they have far leas power to withstand the attacks
of other diseases; consequently, v*st
numbers perish by disorders which ?l?hnn<?h
not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered
lutal t>y this taint in tlic system. Most of the
consumption which dccimates the human family
has its origin directly in this contamination ;
and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidney*.
Iirnin, and indeed, of all the organs arise
from or are aggravated l>y Lhesame cause.
One quarter of nil our people are scrofulous ;
their persons arc invaded by this lurking infection,
and thoir health is undermined by it.
To cleanse it from the system we must, renovato
the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigor?te
it. by healthy food and exercisc. Such
a medici.ue we supply in
Ayer's
Compact Extract of Sarsaparilla,
the most effectual remedy which the medical
skill of our times can devise for this everywhere
prevailing and fatnl malady. It is combined
from the most active remedials that have
been discovered for the expurgation of this
foul disorder from the btond, and the rescue of
the system from its destructive conscqnenoes.
Hence it should be employed for the cure of not
oulv scrofula, but. nlt-o those other affections
which arise from it, such as Eruptive and skin
