V-BPEECH OF HON. F. W. PICKENS. C&lukdia, November 80.?This evening a lar?e audience assembled in the ilouee llall. to hear the speech of the Hon. F. W. Pickens -oq the present emergency of the State. The hall was filled with ladies, and the entire *peech was listened to with undivided attention. He aaid that the appeal of Stephens, of "Georgia, was calculated to mislead. The overt act had been already committed in the election of a Black Republican President. Tho "Constitution expressly provided tlmt the President and Vice-President should bo elected j from different States. The election of J.incoln j and Hamlin was against the spirit of the Con- ; atitution, bccausc both were from the fame section. The history of nil Republics proved that tlie changes all lurried upon the chief magis- ! trntes. This attempt to foist n Block Republican President upon the South was the most open outrage ever attempted to be perpetrated upon a free country. Lincoln ia '68 had said that he did not believe that this Government could endure lmlf sl?ve and half free. Seward bad announced the irrepressible conflict doctrine. South Carolina, then, must secede, and alone. She must move cnutiouMy and firmly, ; like men knowing their dangers, yet ready to meet them like men. [Applause.] The Bnnks should come forward to help the ! State, and to obtain control of Foreign lix change. It was their duty, although South Carolina could only net for herself in resuming ; :thc powers delegated to the General Govern- j Tnent, She should not be alone. Moth inks, said he, I hear from every breeze from the 'South and West the shouts of indignation of a .peoplo rising to th?ir destiny. Methiuks I see the beacon fires of an indigucnt people kindling upon a thousand bills, and the swords of a hundred thousand freemen trembling in their scabbards, to avenge the wrongs and vindicate tho rights of an outraged and betrayed county We have nothing to fear. Let your Convention AKSemhle Slid nnu tlin /.r son/w. eion now and forever, and as Boon as possible f Applause.] Let tliem nail your flag to the mast, aud let your brethren in the South, Southwest and North, know there is one State ready to tread the path of independence, if j fthe treads it alone. [Applause ] Thank God/ the time is not come when South Carolina p sunk by degradation and imbecility. Thiynk God, the. time is not yet come when woiufler, ing foreigners shall search among the griwes of your gallant ancestors to trace out eaehr ob'itcrated letter and name of the mighty dead rom their moss-grown tombs No. thank j God, there are living men yet an ong us ready j to stand sentiual and guard those graves, aud ! stand there and sleep tin-re forever upon those 1 tombs rather than wear in peace the chains of j s'aves and the livery of degradation. [Knthuaiastic applause.J If we are true to ourselves j there i* no danger. IMaee your St'ite in order i ?equip her for the great contest?examine well a^ to the time when 3-011 intend to strike j nun ii |iifj>incii sii'ihs una siiiKt- lor 11 n r ? 11?* in I eiice, now ami forever. [f.oui? applause ] SotiTXfEJSN RESISTANCE. The following paragraph* ?Iiotp 1 lint tlu'ols Anion nentimenl is diily (?u'?nhig grouml nt^ the South. uacigia. Indications from Northern Georgia are J [ favorable to secu?sion in ai. unexpected degree : and tlie friends of separate Slate action now Count confidently uprn r large majority in the Con vent ion. They menu to pas* an ordinance at once declaring Georgia a separate and independent S*t;it \ and appoint delegates to' a Convention of the seceding Stales to org.i:i iz<? ; a Southern confedcfuicy. Notwithstanding the | nrrnngement made by the distinguished eon- ! BuItecB of the House Committee, there will he | ai> aniu.ntcd and bitter el niggle over the ?tec tion of delegates. The issue will l>e "immediate secession" agp.itisl "some oilier mode and ! measure of resislnuee" not defined, btft tantamount, in effect, to the Lincoln administration "Some other mode" will he badly Whipped in the fight, unless nil signs furl. Mississippi. The extra session of our legislature meets to J d?y at Jackson ; nnd judging from the numbers' from tbe river counties who passed through here on their way there lo day and yeiterday ?,? _???...I-..--* ?:n i.? i i- I *nd couuty the first ebullition of intense feel- i lug has subsided into a settled and quitel deter- I ruination to carry out the measures of scce-rsi-n | in nn orderly and effective manner. The eon- | eiderations of pecuniary difficulties weigh no ! v thing in tlie scale ng?innt tliis mode of secession itud men of all classes, no longer divided by the 'bitterness of party feeling, seem of one mind jdu tbo eubject. Texas. The feeling of exasperation at the election of the abolitionist Lincoln to ihs Presidency is intepbifying doily. Aheady the report is that bongings have begi:n in Washington counJLy. tiod knows where it will end. But we j?re in the midst of a reign of terror ut present. Union men are "at a heavy discount" just now nod, like Angels* visits, few aod far between. Hay God nod all the beneficent powers help our country. Louisiana. The ball has cotumenccd to roll io earnest and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama aud Louisiana may as well be counted out of the Union. The tide of the "impending crisis" has turned against the N?rth, and you may soon look for an "irrepressible conflict io the Northern States, when the hundreds of thousands of mechanics and laborers shall be turned out qf employ that the North has nefer dreamo rl n f Washington. Affairs at the South look more and more gloomy. Every additional arrival of representatives to Congress confirms the deep rooted determination of the South to become independont of the irritation, injustice, misrepresentation and injury heaped uj>on them by the North Several members of Congress4 devotid in their hearts to the Union, say that duty to their State will compel their early resignation after the assemblage of congress.
