The Granges and Port Royal. x
Last week an important Grange meetig
was held in Atlanta, Georgia. The
abject of direct trade as a means oi
mancipation from the dominance of
Tew York in the money markets of the
auntry was under serious discussion.
Ipon the announcement being made

een secured by Mr. D. F. Appleton, to
un between Port Royal and Liverpool
i was resolved that the Atlanta grange
rould send 3,000 bales of cotton by the
'ort Royal Dominion line direct to
livernool during the present season.
This resolution is, we hope, the inication
of a wide-spread feeling in the
juth and west. With such material
ud moral support the future of Port
Loyal is assuredly brilliant.
Rark Ashore
The new bark T. Jeffe Southward,
ound for Tybeo went ashore Saturday
5th Inst., off Trenchards Inlet. After
eating about on the shoal?, the bark
cut on the north breaker off Port Royal,
here she was boarded Sunday at 3 p. m.,
y Capt. Early, of the pilot boat Key
;one. About the same time the steam
lg Forest City, came to her assistance,
.t 8 o'clock p. m., the tug abandoned
io ship, the captain of the tug saying it
as no use to try and get her off that
ight. At 10 p. m., Capt. Early tried
? work the vessel off under canvass; at
I o'clock the vessel had moved six
undrcd yards, when she again stopped;
112 midnight Capt. Early succeded in
?tting the Southward in eight fathoms
r water, when he anchored. The vessel
as got off" without much damage and was
>wcd dowu to Tybee on Monday night,
here she was bouud for orders.
We regret to state that the pilot boat
icystone while assisting the bark, lost
i anchor and cable, and went ashore on
io breakers, rendering her at present
iiscaworthy.
The Key .-tone's crew wore aboard of
te bark assisting the vessel, the pilot
iat had been left at anchor as a light

4th of November in Arkansas, Illinois,
Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan,
Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey,

?The yellow fever broke out in Bainbridge,
in southwestern Georgia, on the
i 20th inst. The disease seems to be confined
to natives previously weakened by
long continued malarious affections.
?In Memphis the cold weather has
led to an abatement of the fever. Over
fifteen hundred deaths has been reported
since it began.
?It is generally conceded that Count
de Chambord, will be declared king of
France by the assembly soon after its
meeting.
?As soon as the Rrnssian army withdrew
from Khiva, an insurrection broke
out in which thousands of slaves emancipated
by the Prussians were massacred.
