Thomas Lcnc, of the bbrough about
six miles above Waterford, has

^the murderers of Miss Hamilton.

the" crime in question, bat these

more than the vain ' boastings 'of
abandoned vfflahy. At last, how- ,
erer, the thing was brought to light.
Lent's wifewas found by her hus
band reading ; he- asked What ; she
said the bible The snatched it fron> J
her, swearing bitterly, nod thSew it
into the fire j she got it oiot again/
and a quarrel ensued, in which he
threatened her life, and told her he
'had killed one woman already, and
would kill hef. Her sister's hus- ?
band, Isaac Armstrong, came in at
this time, and heard, the words. He
mentioned them at a Mr. Trip'f, at
whose house Sickler had been bro't
'up, and whete he had boasted of
the crime. This brought 10 their
.recollection what they had heard ?
Sickler say in Lent's presents, aftd
mentioned it to haac Armstrong. :
He came down to Waterford, and
told it to Mr. Franklin Livingston,
I he deputy Sheriff, who went \ip
and took l.ent at his own risk ;
summoned the witnesses i and after
several examinations, Lent confes
sed the whole. Mr. Livingston,
empowered by the rccordcr of Al
bany and the Lieutenant Governor,
sat'soff in pursuit of'Sickler last,
week, andl hope by this time has
got in safe custody the other mon
