the Blue Ridge Railroad the evening previous,
we made our way to the oocalbrtnhle and wellkept

in a short ?ime there would be Ave hundred
hand* at work on the Road. Qen. H. expressed
himself confident of the succeea af the enterprise.

There are several stores at Bel too, and It la
a place of considerable thrift. The passengers
like the brealrlaet table at Mr. McGan'a,
if we judge from the manner in wbieb it ie
patronised, aad can testify for one of bis
bountiful sod well-preparsd meals. On
Thursday the cars did not return to Anderson
till evenisg, and having some business at that
place, we concluded to walk np. The distance
is only about ten miles, the cool bracing morning
rendered the task a light one. We ionod
Anderson very quiet, but there seemed to be
a little etir in the cetton market, and there
was a considerable number of bales sold that
day. The platform at the depot was crowded
with them, tho buyers tfere sending them off
to Charleston.
A wedding AT ANDERSON.
We must not omit to mention the marriage,

Earls, daughter of Mr. Blias Earls, of
Anderson, and Jamks U. Trorswill, Esq.,of
Columbia. The ceremony was performed
by Rev, J. Scott Murray. We had the
pleasure of meeting the bridal party at Bel ton,
on Thursday morning, and to receive an introduction
by the fair and lovely bride to
the fortunate and happy bridegroom. Mr.
Tborswcll is a son of the late Rev. Dr. Jaa.
D. Tuormwell, inheriting his eminent father's
name, and giving promise also that be
is not a stranger to hia talents. lie has just
commenced the practice of the law. May be
attain a distinction in bis profession as great
as that of bis aire in literature end divinity.
The trip from Anderson to Walballa is performed
after sun-down at this season of the ?
year, and observation of tbiugs outside the oar
is thus cut off. But we had some good company
on board, amongst them Mr. Wm. Perry,
proprietor of the Pendleton Factory. We
were glad to learn that the factory is doing
well, and its yarn attaining a high character '
for perfect finish, and that it ranks among the
very most saleable in the market. Mr. Pa ret
is thoroughly devoted to his manufacturing,
takes all pains to be posted on tha subject, and
is instructive as to the history of every invention,
and the prominent inventors of improvements
in spinning and weaving cloth.

The Greenville County Commissioners are
holJing a meeeing this day, and have been
waited on by a large committee of citisens,
representing the feolings of the people, ear- 1
nestly urging a subscription of two bandied er <
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars by the I
County, in addition to the ona hundred thou- I
sand by the city. There oan be bat lill'e I
doubt that the Commissioners will do their
duty, and make the subscription for this vhel- |
ly important enterprise.
