Editori&l Correspondence.
AwDxaaoN, July I2tl>. 1869.
T arrived here tliia morning, on the wnv
to Wallialla to attend the Court just opened
for Oeonee County. The railroad arrange
menu are not eecommodaling foi Green
ville people going lo Walhalla, as we have
to wait at Anderson all day till (lie nrrivaj
of tlie afternoon train from Beltoo, before
we can proceed lo the German City, which
is aald to hare been qui'o attractive to visitors
during the present summer. Judge
Orr went up on this morning's train from
Anderson, which left hero about an hour
before the schedule time of arrival for the
morning train from Belton. I am quite
conteot, however, as I have the pleasant
opportunity of spending the day with my
friends, Major and Mr*. B , of this place,
and hope to reach WalhalU in the cool of
the evening. I understand that by special
agreement of the Bar, the Conrt will only
try the criminal eases in Oconee at this
term; perhaps may also transact some
equity business,
caors axd caoyrixo.
Crops everywhere on the road from
Greenville to Anderson are el this time suffering
for rein, but can wait without very
serious damage e few days longer. The
drought teems to be now becoming general
all over the State, only a few localities e*
eepled. I believe a good deal In the moon

Fiiday morning shell look for rnin before
the first quarter is out; but " all signs fall
in dry weather," ia a formidable connter
aaying. The frequent occurrence of summer
drought is a strong argument in favor
of a larger cultivation of small grain?bar
by, wheat, oa's and rye?that make them
aalvea always in our climate before the
summer dry wealber sets in. The ssmead
vantage is also general with the Irish p.ita

thia ?tate. Now is a good time for people
to he preparing land for turnipa If corn

)84fi tbe stock would have perished but for
the large quantity of turnips that were pro
dueed that year. Farmers had the sagacity
to resort to their use in feeding hogs and
eattle and all kinds of stock that year, and
it would be profitable every year, wet or
dry. Experience has shown that turnip
land should be broken up frequently before
sowing. Cow pen and stable raanuiee are

Monday last, during which several of the pupils
at the Sumter Inetitute, of whieh Mrs.

severe shock of electricity, prostrating them
upon the floor. Miss Cecelia Moiee (daughter
of Mr. C'H. Molse) wsavery much prnstnted,
her bonds nnd feet becoming rigid and cold.
Prompt use of hot water to the feet and rubbing
the hands and arms with brandy, soon restored

Mr. W. E. Moise) was very strnugely effected.
She did not feel any discomfort nntil shout
two hours after the shock, when she was seised
