Convention met to night, to elect delegate*
to a State Convention, without
distinction of race or color. Ii was the
largest and moat enthu*ia?tic meeting
held in the State, al?oul 600 colored
and 400 whites being in attendance.
The officers of the meeting are all original
Union mer?-the speakers the
Mine. The meeting was add reused by
Wro. Fletcher, a leading colored citixen,
who said that if he was fit to vote,
he waa fit to ait on a jury and hold of
fice; be hau been told that the conservatives
were ilo to the colored man;
w,hat he heard le night had set him
thinking about going to read, study
and vote for himself. The radicals say
they are going to carry all the States;
* they would not u.iss him. lli* remarks

were adopted in favor of a return
to the Constitution,opposition to Brownlow,
