In nddition to thu foregoing stafrvaont. of
Receipt* sod Expenditure*, h?r?\vitli exliibiteil
to Llie Court, the following i* presented
aa nn Abstract of tint proceedings of the i
13 ?ard for the pnat year:
To meet tba current expenses of the Board '
an aaaeasment of ?M> per cent upon the General
Tax of the District was levied, being 5
per cent less than the previous year, which
produced the fuiii of $2.857.<K\ ull of whieli
lias been paid over l?y the Tax Collector of ]
the District, and expended, with the exoep- j
tion of n balance of $449.24. An increased <
number of paupers have been provided for (
dining the post year, n majority of this in (
orease being children and infanta. Three of ,
the latter have been placed in the care of
responsible persona outside of the Poor
House, an.l are, no donbt.as well eared for
n* they would be. If under our immediate
charge and control. To meet the wants and
convenience of ibis increased number ofpau.,..-o

which wniiloni- *t die order of the Growl
J'jry Inst fell, Beside tnd cfiH Jreli above
alluded to as being in the charge of persons
outside tin. Poor llouao, there are also three
other outside paupers, via: Joseph llammett,
Simpson Wnr?l, and A boy of Nancy Collins,
whoj frwm-their entire lielplcssitcs*, require
ntorq attention than can bo bestowed upon '
them at the Poor rfum They arc in the ?
charge of relative^ who perforin the labor
necessary to tlieir, comfort much chenpcr
than eflh ho otherwise procured. Joseph
Ht? uimett is a lunatic, perfectly help less in
every respect. .Simpson Ward is destitute
of aims, ami entirely blind. The boy is
without arius and leys. The cost of providing
for these persons, in consequence of their
extreme helplessness, is considerably greater
than ordinary paupers.
Duritig the past year some si* or eight,
children have been bound awl apprenticed,
all of whom we regard as having found oxcellcnt
homes ami good masters. The number
who have died the past year, is fivelent
Hig, at t\k? present time, about 80 under
the control of the Hoard The number who
have ueen In the Asylum from this District,
the past year, has been six. The whole
number who have been dependent upon
the Board, has boon forty-one.
It would, perhaps, be of interest to mention
the fact, that of the children now under
our contiol, some six or eight are sufficiently
large to receive instruction, and the Boarti
Jinre deemed it pt opor to sand them to school,
and for some time past have been taught by
a competent teacher in the neighborhood of I
the Foor Bouse.
