N. Y., at the age of 100 years. His
father, John O'Brien, an Iiishman. emigrated
to this country about (lit year
1749. and soon after mariied a ) onng
squaw of the Stock bridge tiihe of Indians,
of whom was Iioin John O'Brien
Shenandoah, in the year 1751. The
father being a man of means, sent bis
Fon to France to ob'ain a good classical
education. Remaining there until he
fini>hed bis studies, lie returned to the
United States in the mine vessel that
bore America's tine ftiend, Ua Fayette.
Young O'Brien Shenandoah was picsent
and took an active part in most of
the battles which were fought between .
the Americans and English.

O'Ncall Division, No. 75, S. of T., held a
public meeting in thi* place on Friday evening

in procession from their Hall, to the

the lethargy into which they have fallen,

rights and liberties which every Southerner
holds dear, and for open resistance to Nor
thern aggression.
In conclusion, Messrs. Editors, I propose
the formation of a Cavalry Company in onr
village and It* vicinity, and urge the necessity
upon our young men to prepare for the
troublous limes that are before us, and for
the defence of our mountain homes. T.
