An old rriftid of our acquaintance, just

conclusion that the will never marry, and

old lady, we admire your spirit.
[Edgefield Advertiser.
I mean to lire a singlo life,
And live ec till 1 die;
111 never bo a husband's wife?
I'll tell you the reason why :
The men are a deceitful set?
gt They'll talk as fair as day :
Hut when they've caught you in their net,
.They'll turn auother way.
O horrid ! horrid ! only think,
While wives are cooking victuals,
To see a carcass filled with drink?
The floor with 'bacco spittles !
Then how disgusting is the noiso
Of fretful husband bawling:
How little peace a wife enjoys.
With lots of children squalling.
O no: I'll never married be,
While stars are in the sky :
A single life's the life for me?
A maid I'll live and die.

valuable to the lost, than a mine of
gold.
Gallant.?The Cincinnati city

so as to accommodate the crinolines.
The Last Conundrum.?Why is a
peg in a new boot like a pang of conscience
? Because it is apt to pierce
the sole.

I put half an ounce into the mid:lle

corn and pumpkins and a row of pea h

Hiding ourself to watch their maneuvers,
presently the one on terra firma
