the first necessity in onr climate of cold nn<l
storm, and no farmer may neglect, with am
ehow of economy, sundry provision* #f thi*'
nature. A portion of these wants arc every
where conceded, others are carelessly forgot
X - ten and neglected. We often see farms up
'?* on svhtch no provision tias been made for
the shelter of a portion of the stock through
the winter. Sheep, colls, young cattle, and
* perhaps the Cows, are left to shiver unpro
tected. T)oea the farmer know that he can
.l ill afiord the loss which results! To keep
sr an?mnr cspo--cd to the Weather in goo I
order requires nearly double the f?w*l necessary
when CO tn fort a hly sheltered ; and the
increased value of the manure will repay
the trouble attending the extra care then required.
There is a heavy loss in the expoonr*
of manure* to the weather. The chief
vaIm of a fertilizer lies in that part which
wrwter will dissolve. Let it lie and leach
through the winter and spring, and a good
Whare of its worth is gone; shelter it in hods
and cellars, and a saving will l?e made?
proving this the truest economy w hore maaura
is valued and good ctops do-ired.
A Til t OV A Tluunvn l?iv-o
* fortnight ago n Mr. Evans purchased a
grtir of winter gloves nt llio shop of Mr.
hoolbrod,tailor and mercer,in Wolverhampton;
but, not having immediate occasion to j
wear them, lie put them away. Wishing1
to lue tliem, however, a few days since, lie
essayed to put them on, hut one of his fingem
inot with some obstruction, which on
examination was found to bo occasioned by
n handsome diamond ring. Mr. Evnns apfirised
Mr. Shoolbred of his discovery, and
t was recollected that Mr. Henry Ilayward
had lost a diamond ring, about 12 months
go. Mr Ilayward, being about to proceed
to a conceit at Shrewsbury, called nt Mr.
Hhoolbicd's to purchase a pair of gloves, lie
tried on several pairs, and very shortly af {
terwards discovered that he had lost his
? ring. A reward for its restoration was offer L
?il, but nothing was heard of it until it was
fouad in tho manner stated by Mr. Evans,
ft had been snugly secreted in the finger of
the glova for about 12 months.
