The response was instant and enthusiastic.
A rote was immediately taken to sustain
the Governor; and when he left the
town of Topekn, the people assembled rn

ACCIDENT.
On Saturday last, says tho South
Carolinian, as a freight train ou the
Greenville Railroad una coming over
the high tressel at Williainston, a passenger
car attached to it fell through,
between thirty and forty feet, and woe
crushed. Mr. llenning, a conductor,
Mr. Acker, a carpenter,-and two negroes
, were ip the car. We regret to
learn that Mr. Henning received some
serious cuts about the face and head,
and that Mr. Acker had one of his hip
bones crushed and an elbow dislocated,
and is dangerously injured. The
