I Public Ordinance.
IT ORDAINED, That on the lat dav of
J3 October of each year, the Town Council of
Greenville shall appoint or elect ? nam bar of
Marshals, to serve lor one year, (subject to removal,
for misconduct or neglect of duty, by the
Council,) to 1k? paid? dollars per month, whose
duty it snail be to supervise the Patrol Compa
nice and obey all orders of Council in regard to
the Police of the Town. They shall report all
I violations and enforco ail Ordinances, and half
the penalty Imposed for any offence shall be paid
to the Marshal or Marshals reporting the same.
Be h ordained, That it shall lie the duty of
. the Clerk ?fCouncilj on the 1st of each month,
to make ont six distinct and separate Companies
for Patrol, to be numbered 1, 2, 4, 6, 0, each to
consist of a Captain and three Privates, which
Companies shall perform Patrol duty for one
month, in the following manner: The night will
be divided into three equal watches, the first
watch to commence fifteen minutes after the
ringing of the town bell. The 1st Company will
take the first watch the first night, the 4th Cora.
pany will take the first waten of tlis second
night, the 2d Company will take the first watch
the third night, and the 6th will take the first of
*?the fourth night; tha 2d Company will take the

fife and health, caused by Sexual diseases, and
the deceptions which are practised upon the unfortunate
victims of such diseases by Quacks,

Medical Advice Gratis, to all persons thus afflicted,
(Male or Female,) who aj>ply by letter, w ith
a description of their condition, (age, occupation,
habits of life, Ac.,) and in cases of extreme poverty
and suffering, to Furnish Medicine frco of
Charge.
The Howard Association is a benevolent Institution,
established by a special endowment, for
the relief of the sick and distressed, afflicted with
"Virulent and Epidemic Diseases," and its funds
can bo u*c<l for no other purpose. It has now a
surplus of means, which the Directors hare voted
to advertise the above notice. It ia needless to
add that the Association commands the highest
Medical skill of the age, and will furnish the
most approved modern treatment. Valuable ad
