GREAVES. j The Executive Committee of the Republican party have made arrangement* for a big mass-meeting in Reaufort j ' on Saturday the 21st insf. + CoRrt of ( eneraUSrssions. The October term of the above court for this couuty concluded its session on Friday la-t, and His Honor passed the following sentences on the prisoners: Henry Monohan, who was brought in guilty of man-laughter on Thursday for the killing of Henry Jordan onboard the U. 8. S. Catskill, in July la t, received three years in the penitentiary. Henry Rawaon on two cases of grind larceny, was fined til, and three months imprisonment in jad, in each case. Isaac Rlue, grand larceny, one year iu the penitentiary, aud Jxmct Schelly, grand larceny, one year in the penitentiary. Ijawrence. 1 h rules governing the House of Representatives were adopted ! to govern the convention, excepting that ' jH>rtion relating to the ''previous ques- J tiou." The teuiporary officers were elected tlie permanent officers, and Mr. i A. W. Muckenfuss was appointed vicepresident. Tlie iu!es were suspended anil the Hon. i Samuel (?;een was nominated to the Sen- j ate by acclamation. The rules were also j suspended when the names of Messrs. Thomas Hamilton, Hasting- (lantt, and Joseph Robinson were placed in nomination for Representatives, and they were declared by acclamation the choice of the convention. Mr. Geo. A. Reed was nominated by a vote of 57, his opponent Mr. J. W. Jones receiving 12 votes. On the next vote Mr. N. B. Myers received 41, Mr. Benj. inuuo: s 20 and Mr. R. F. Greaves 9. Mr. Myers was announced duly nominated. On the next ballot Messrs. T. E. Miller, J. D. Robertson, Seaborn Drayton, and S. B. Chavis were voted or. Mr. Miller received 53 votes, Mr. Robertson 4, Mr. Drayton 1, and Mr. Chavis 2. Mr. Miller was de clared the nominee of the convention. For Clerk of the Court, Messrs. H. G. Judd, and S. J. Bampfield were placed in nomination. Mr. Judd received 17 votes, and Mr. BampBeld 55 votes. The latter gentlcmau was declared the nominee. For Sheriff, there was hut otic ex. pressed opinion and that in favor of the present incumbent Mr. Win. Wilson, who on the suspension of the rules was nominated by acclamation. For School Commissioner, the following names were placed by their fricn s before the convention. Hcv. G. Harris, Rev. J. B. Middleton, Mr. Thomas. II Wheeler, and Mr. F. D. J. Lawrence. Mr. Wheeler was declared the nominee on the following vote : Wheeler, 50, Lawrence, 10, Middleton. 3. and Harris 1. The convention took a reeos.- to the following morning. Addison, wore planed by their j friends before the convention, but before proceeding to a vote Mr. Win. ilson withdrew the name of Mr. James M. Crofut, and the contest settled down between 31 r. Carleton and Mr. Addison. Strong speeches were made against the J candidacy of Mr. Carleton. The vote re j suited in Mr. Addison being declared the. ! choice of the convention by a vote of41, i .Mr. Carleton receiving 29. I For Coroner, Messrs. A. W. Mueken. I fuss, W. H. Gregorie, I.J. Cohen and j E. C. McTureous were in the field. Mr. ( Muck en fuss was successful by a vote of j 40, Mr. Gregorie receiving 20. I For County 0 nnuissioncrs, Messrs. V. S. Scott, 11. J. Martin and 11.
