?- Mr. Chnctzberg of the Beaufor
News Depot, has sent us a guide to the
Centennial. We shall study that guide
thoroughly so that in after years we can
talk about the centennial as if we had
seen it. Those who want to see the great
show on such a cheap scale can purchase
this guide for a quarter.
S&- On May 1st will be issued in [
Charleston, a new daily paper, the Journal
of Commerce. As its name denotes it
will devote considerable of its space
to the local commerce of Charleston, and
the general material interests of the State
Its politics will be democratic.
We call attention to the adver- j
tisement of the bauking house of W. II.
Lockwood. Such an institution is of considerable
accommodation to our citizens,
and he is rapidly building up a snug little
business.

army of myraids of caterpillars that were
wending their way upon the track, and in
such numbers and manner as to impede
the wheels of the locomotive for miles.
This is a most extraordinary and unprecedented
occurrence at least at this season,
and would seem to indicate that we are to
be inflicted with further disaster if the

its track invades the cotton p'ant and provision
crops now tender and in a growing
