C.. in I80O, and in early diildhood gave wldence of the brilliancy for which ihe was afterwards noted. At the age of twelve rears she was taketo to Philadelphia by her parents shere she received a liberal education, remaining n that city uutil the close of the war, when she reurued to her nati* e city, and entered zealously in. ;o the duti-s of t-aching school, and. by her sfficient service became emiti- ntiv successful in the large field that was then <>p n <1 such labor. Shortly after reconstructs ,M'?- Collin entered nto the politics of this the State of her birth, to a greater extent than any of her sex, and became vid >ly and 'avorably known in the political and literary world. The wisdom of her counsel and adrice. which was given witlt warmth and fluency never failed to iotcrest and impress ev n those who differed with h-r. She was possessed of a mind of extraordinary power and brilliancy. Gifted with conversational powers that almost distanced rival- j ry ; an eye thaj enchanted the glance that its beauty attracted. She was the idol of her family and Wends. She died at Brunson, S. C., where she had been sent by direction of her physician in search of health, on the 4th of March, 1876. The last year of her life was fraught with great suffering which she endured with a patient and religious fortitude thagave evidence of her christ ian character. This estimable young lady was called by an AIIwiae Providence in the morning of her life, rich with ' hop and bright prospects, bnt such are the decrees of Mini who doeth all things well. Called from this world of pain and suffering to that celestial shore to become "the rose of sharon; the lily of the valley." Therefor let relatives and friends wip* their wepiag eyes and iuscribe uj>o.i her tomb, not made with marble but with sympathizing hearts, the following epitaph: "l>h.
