2nd. Cross tics will bo 8 feet long, and of two
dimensions iu thickness; 0110-third gain ties, 8
inehes thick; two-thuds intermediate tics, 5 inches
thick; the whole to be hewed on two sides to u
facc of 8 inches, and tho bark to bo stripped oft,
and must bo procured from good sound whito oak,
post oak, heart piue, chesnut or cedar.
Pine tics must show 4 inches of heart upon the
whole length of both faces.
Tics will be paid for at tho rate of 25 cents for
cedar ties, und 20 cents for all other ties; to be
delivered iu piles of 36 to every hundred feet, as
near as possible to the Road bed ; 12 gain tics and
24 intermediate tics.
3rd. Mud-sills will bo 18 feet long, and must bo
hewed upon two dides, to a face of 8 inches, and 5
inches thick. Mud-sills will be received of any
good, sound, durable timber ; but if of pine, they
must show a line of heart upon the whole lonpth
of both faces, to be dol'vcrea continuously along
the line of Road, threo extra piecos to every 100 ft.
Sills will be paid for by the piece, at the ruto of
10 ceuto. Contract** will be eutered iuto separate*
ljf for each description of Timber, in amounts in ,

entered into for the receptiou of timbert at convenient
points upon the Hue of Rail Road, in quantities
of any kind, sufficient for from one-half mile to
