Poor-House Election.
A Steward of the Abbeville Poor House
will be elected by the Commissioners of
the Poor, on Saturday the 2fst instant, to
serve lor one year from the first ot January,
whose duty it will be, subject to their
direction, to act as Superintendent of the
Poor House and Overseer of the farm. As
Suporintendant, he will have the care and
management of the paupers ; and as Overserf,
hu will be required to perform oil the
duties of such an agent, which nre so well
known as to render mention of them h< re
unnecessary. The time and labor of the
Steward anil fam'ly, if he fins one, is lo he
devoted entirely to the institution, and lie
and family will be supplied with such necessaries
(except clothinor) as are not
raised on the farm, inclusive of what may
be.
Applicar.ts will address by letter directed
to the Commissioners of the Poor, and j
leave with any member of the Board. The j
applicant must siaie me number ol his tainily,
give soine irlea of the services they
can perforin, as to plowing, spinning, vvea.
