FENITENTIARY SHOES
It may havo escaped the attention
of some that wo have entire control
in this market of the Boots and Shoes
manufactured in ^ing -Sing Prison
Now York State, and of thoso made
at Brooklyn and Worcester, where
there is principally skilled white
labor. Loather from tho beet Tan
neries is put into thefio makes, and
they are beyond dou' t tho best shoes
made in tho United States, and they
fit better, look bottor, and woar
bettor. This is no idle talk, as many
of our customcru can testify to what
wo say. Wo have got ttio ' hold "
on tho shoo market here, and nro do
tcrmincd never to let go our reputa

"Wo shall ever " hold fust to that

I lie Radical School Debt.
When the Democratic party came into
power in Kershaw county in 1NT>, they
tound a debt- upon the school records of
the county ainoun'ing to $12.":::?. A tax
of ime mill was levied, aiuLluis been con
tinued I ioiii year to year since that time,
to pay 1 1 1 1 tliic debt created by the Radi
cal parly during its licentious sway in
our' State. We arc informed by the
School (. ommissiouer that this old debt
is nearly all paid, anil that it will require
a tax of only t In ec-U.ui i lis of one mill
next year to pay up these claims in Jull.
Such has been tile result of Democrat
ic rule. In a year or two more, our
county taxation will have been reduced
from ? mills to at least .*? mill-, unless
it be determined lo elect a tn and more
eligible court house, which we think
rhoulu be done.
