The paragraph so sharply commented
od in the the abovo extract of a com
munication from "Patron" to the Caro
deo Journal, was penned with no un?
friendly purpose to tho Grangers, bat
to call into publicity tho existence of
Cranges which we knew had existed at
the plaocs mentioned by 'Putrou," as.
well os elsewhere, but of which we had
seen no trace of existence for a long
time past. It* we have fallen into erjor
(and that error is a very grievous one,
as from the tono of "PutronV' commu
nication to the Journal, we might sop'
pox?I) the fault is not ours, but that of
the Grunges -nd their officers. There
are two newspapers in tho county, both
friendly to the Grangers, and either
would cheerfully publish anything which
might be communicated?of the elec
tion of officers, proceedings or other ac
tion whatever of any Orsuge in the
county. Yet if anything has oppenred
in the columns of cither of tho county
newspaper*, or tn any other newspaper,
ooucciuing any Grunge in the county
within a year past, we, who nr*i diligeut
readers of the newspapers, not ob

Grangers not hido their "candle under a
bushel," but lot it shine until its light
reaches even into "our benighted office,

ed recently in sawing off the limb of a
tree, in the flower yard of Col- Jobo D.
Wylio, of Lancuster, upon which a hive

his neck.

much within the past year as to render
