IN ANSWER TO NUMEROUS INQUIRIES ,>
dressed to this bffico in relation to tlio Militia La;
of this State, tho following announcement is made :
I. All njalb wiiitfe persons resident in this Stale, between
the ages of sixteen and sixty years, cnpnble ot
ben ring arms, except persons who aro exempt from
''all militia service." are liable to'militia duty, both ordinary
and in the field in timt.% of alarm, insurrection
or Invasion.
II. Persons who hnve been enrolled for Confederate
serVice nnd detailed to remain at home in civil employments
or pursuits, or who lihve been . exempted
from Confcdohite service during tho continuance of

Persohfc who hnve been enrolled for' Confederate
service, whether general or loCal, although detniled

the provisions of tlio Exemption Act of Congress, shall'

that all Details heretofore granted to persons
of the Reserve classes by tho oflicers of conscription
be and they nro hereby revoked. Detail* of persons
of these classes will hereafter bo made only by

Reserve Forces in this State. .

to Brigadier General Chesnut a roll of all persons
of the classes ot Reserves whoso details are hereby revoked,

ahthoritfks, now revoked by General Order^ No.8.
Conscript Department, S. C., are hereby revived
and continued upon such terms, and for same period
as originally granted.
II. Enrolling Officers will forward .to these Ileadquarter.sj.ho
Rolls as indicated by-Major Melton, Commandant
of Conscripts, S. C.
III." Applications for details will in future be made
through the local Enrolling Officers, who will inrestigato-the
claims?being governed by the Rulos and
Regulations prescribed by tho Bureau of Conscription.
The papers will then bft forwarded to tlw Commandant
of Conscripts for his examination and reference to
these Headquarters, where final action will bo taken .
