In making this announcement, I am awjie Unit I propose to engage in an enterprise not free from u:ffi cultiea; but these I will endeavor to prt.viue againse, by securing a Subscription List tbat will place the paper beyond the reach of failure. South Carolina can richly support, at her Capital, a leading Literary and Political Weekly Journal, and to her people I now issue this Prospectus, feeling assured the enterprise will be sustained, and that they will support a florae Journal of the character of that now proposed. LITERARY JOURNAL, For the home circle, The Examiner will be conduct d with a view to render it at least equal to any ever published at the South. The choicest selections of English and American Literature will be nmile t?.r its columns and a number of able Contributors will be secured. I will endeRvor, in this department, to make It a Journal worthy of the patronage and steady support of the people oi this State and of the South. As a POLITICAL JOURNAL, j Tax Ex.\XiNza will abide by the old land-marls of the PKTKU T)ftmAArw?w Insloruarwlent of national parties, it will take a stAud aa a faithful co-operator 10 the great work of maintaining Southern Right* and promoting Southern union. It will be the organ of no political party?the exponent of no political -Teed which haa not for one of its cardinal principles "the Equality of the South ii> the Union, or Independence ont of it." This is no new faith, but one which South Caroliua has long and earnestly contended for. NEWS JOURNAL. The Examinee will contain the Latest News. Foreign and Domestic, received up to the hour of publication. It will give full and correct Market Retorts and Prices CcattEST. Our readers in the country may rely on strict attention being paid to thisimportant feature of a newspaper. It will give full and accurate reports of the Proceedings or the I.e<;:sLvrrr.i:an<i of Congress and the acta and doings of the various political organ* itations. The Examiner will be one of the larcest Week y Journals in the Southern .States, printed with now and elegant ty|>e, on fine white paper, and issued in large quarto form of eight pages, containing forty eofwwwof interesting reading matter.
